Topic Outdoor Area:
I differentiate between 3 types:
pure material prices including tax and transportation (each standard version, for terrace slabs normal standard with protective layer etc... no deluxe model)
- simple concrete DIY store stone (20x10cm): costs about €11/sqm
- clinker paving 20x10cm: costs about €25/sqm
- terrace slab 60x40cm (or similar) costs about €50/sqm
installation costs from the garden landscaper including compacting, joint filling with sand etc. including tax (approximate, be sure to get quotes!):
concrete 20x10 €10/sqm
clinker paving €14/sqm
terrace slabs €25/sqm
- substructure as base, 80cm frost deep including all materials (gravel, sand, recycling etc...) €17/sqm
(note that you need more than 1 cubic meter of material per sqm including compaction)
- labor for excavation, compaction, sand delivery etc. converted approx. €10/sqm
not included in the price: removal of old soil. Often can be used to raise the garden so that terrace and garden are at the same level.
therefore, paving costs are:
simple concrete stone 11+10+17+7= €45/sqm
clinker paving = €63/sqm
terrace slabs = €99/sqm
a typical driveway has easily 100 sqm, which would therefore result in €4500 or €6300. A reasonable terrace with e.g. 7x4 meters (~30 sqm) would then be almost another €3000.
additional costs arise for boundary construction (lawn edging), aco channel etc... this is only about the sqm price...
you could save if you do not replace the soil so deep. Then there is a risk of frost damage. This should be well considered. It is also clear that the total price difference between simple paving stone and clinker paving is not that large. Larger concrete stones are more expensive to lay by the way.
ps: garden landscaper invoices MUST explicitly show labor costs. They can also be submitted with the annual income tax return when building a new house!
