Hello

We are currently building with a developer and are getting a roof window.

We want to retrofit a roof window blind later on the roof window. (Not offered by the developer)
All our shutters are electrically operated by a switch.

My question is: How should the roof window blind be optimally connected?
Our roof window will be Roto and we should therefore also use the Roto roof window blind.

By solar and radio or electrically via power connection and switch on the wall.

Our electrician only wants to lay the power connection in a box under the insulation and sealing. That means the insulation and sealing would have to be cut afterwards to get the cable out and resealed again.
The resealing probably creates a weak point in the roof.

Solar:
Advantage: does not require a power connection and the roof covering does not have to be cut.
Disadvantage: you are tied to the remote control and cannot integrate it into smart home systems.

How does the solar function work? Does the battery always get enough power (the roof window is on the north side)?

Electric:
Advantage: always has power, can be connected with the same switches as the other shutters, and can be easily integrated into smart home systems with flush-mounted actuators.
Disadvantage: the power cable must be run through the roof covering.

My question now is what would you recommend to us?

Does anyone know how to make the roof covering 100% watertight again?

Can someone here tell me what you would recommend?

Solar-powered skylight roller shutter with remote control or skylight roller shutter with power connection and switch on the wall?

For a roofer, it shouldn't be a problem to cut through the roof house, pull out the cable, and reseal it, right?

100% with cable. Have the connection laid through the roof membrane. There are collars for the roof membrane. For example, KAFLEX. But you need power + control (either in one cable or two cables). With Roto you have to be careful: there are 24V and 230V roller shutters. But Roto is still the best choice.

I have to correct myself again. It depends on your roof structure. If you are working with [Aufdachdämmung], it doesn't work like that because you can't reach the connection. Therefore, it would be better to lead the connection of the roof window through the membrane and connect it there. So inside the house.

Yes, we are also getting Roto as the roof window

i.e. we then also have to take a Roto roof window blind.

I was also of the opinion that connection by cable is the best option.

Unfortunately, the electrician refuses or it is the developer's requirement not to lay anything through the roof membrane.
Therefore, the electrician can only lay the cable for the shutter in a flush-mounted box at the top of the roof window
The flush-mounted box will have a blank cover

Then the insulation must be cut from the outside to get the cable out and then sealed again.

If you still write about integration into the Smart Home, you actually can't avoid Roto. You can also order 230V roof window shutters from Roto, then you can operate them normally with a blind actuator.
