For our windows (living and dining room), one-piece roller shutters approximately 2.8m long in aluminum were always planned and ordered.
Now we were surprised when two-piece roller shutters with roller shutter guide rails firmly mounted on the window frame (plastic) were installed per window.
Somehow, we can't really get used to it.
Reversing this would mean that the mounting holes of the middle roller shutter guide rails would either have to be closed with plugs or covered with a strip (which would also have to be mounted). --> This is out of the question aesthetically.
In addition, the electrician only installed the motor boxes on one side.
On the other side, no motors were planned, let alone switches.
Now we are almost at the point where we will accept it and leave it as it is.
I am now asking what we can demand as compensation from the roller shutter specialist company.
Could you please help us here to get a good reference value for what is possible.

The question in dispute is also how reasonable the solution to the problem is.

But: is it certain that the wrong delivery was made and what is stated in the execution planning?

The problem is that it has to be reworked anyway. How do you let the other side down if no electrical installation is planned there? Manually or can they not be lowered at all? Have you already sought the conversation?

Hello xdiver,

where is the construction taking place? I'm only asking because you indicated "foreign country" as the country/state.
That could of course also have an influence on the legal situation.

Otherwise, I would also refer to the service description and demand the creation of this contractually agreed condition.

Ultimately, it can't be your problem if incorrect material was installed and has caused damage (holes in the frame) to your windows.

A purely optical problem is one thing, but how is the electrical function of the shutters supposed to be restored now?

Regards,

Dirk

definitely, the single-piece aluminum roller shutter curtain is stated in the offer we accepted.

We also need electric motors for the other side. When I saw it and spoke to the architect about it, that was not a problem either... The electrician just has to come back. <-- statement from the architect. The cables would run along the outside... It’s not plastered yet anyway.

By the way: The electrician was then on the construction site and saw:
Oh, two-piece roller shutter curtains per window... hmm they were supposed to be single-piece... Should I ask again... Oh well, they did it right and I slept through it and nobody noticed *HAPPY*... Quickly finish as long as nobody says anything.
without asking, he immediately prepared everything... cables for power, cables for switches, etc.
All I can say is: nothing beats self-reliant workers!
That could all be reversed... It’s no problem either!

We sought the conversation and the fault was also admitted. I then asked for a written statement and received it. Confession of guilt is included as well.
Now we were offered a 200 € discount (on approx. 5000 € order value)... No mention was made yet of the additional electrical work and two extra motors, switches, etc. At that moment I thought I was in the wrong movie.
If you mess up, you have to stand by it!

Another alternative to the above is: have the window frames replaced at the cost of the responsible party.
Now I see so many potential sources of error again (removing frames (interior is plastered), sealing work, etc.) that I have zero desire to do business.

If we think it all through, we are almost ready to accept it with a heavy heart.
Only we expect appropriate concessions from the contractor!
As said, the question is what is realistic here and what is not.
Thanks in advance for your help, I really don’t know how to proceed here.
