Roller shutter skylight noise reduction during rain

We installed the solar shutters ourselves.

Do the solar roller shutters work well? I have read about problems with the batteries because they are exposed to low temperatures in winter.

I have watched the installation videos for both the electric and the solar-powered ones. The electric one does not address the cable routing inside. Retrofitting the solar roller shutter is definitely easier. There is significantly less technology inside the regular electric ones that can break. Something with an on and off switch at the light switch is what I currently have in mind.

Blackout roller blind plus screen also easily cost 200 euros per window; the difference is not that big afterward.

Does the roller shutter construction reduce the window area? The blackout roller blinds have a rail on each side that covers the window area.

In the new building, I would install wiring. However, we had no problems with solar in winter. If there is snow on it or it is icy, you will have problems either way and the system will remain off.

Then I'll wait and see what the roofer charges for the electric one including installation. If it's much more expensive than the solar option, I can always go back to solar.

The list price for the electric version is 200 euros above the internet price, let's see what they want for the installation.

Is it even possible to wire the Velux blinds with fixed switches, or can they only be operated via remote control?

With Velux roller shutters, the remote controls are usually included. However, there are retrofit solutions from Velux so that it can be installed behind a switch.

We have the roof windows with roller shutters. I don't want to be without them anymore. When it rains, the closed blinds are significantly quieter than the windows.
