See above because there is no coach here for life planning! There are forum members here who earn significantly more, have a bungalow and drive a Fiat and are happy. And then there are members who are glad to get a 700k full financing with 4000 net and then wonder when with 2 children the budget has become too tight. YOU have to know what it allows you. You are a homeowner after all, Frankfurt is not that much more expensive. Probably rather a bargain.

You have quite a financial scope to simply try out all sorts of things. Buying a house in the Taunus would work just as well (you will easily find a bank as a partner) as trying out renting while keeping your current house. In an international environment, depending on your partner’s willingness to engage with the German language, additional costs will come on top of the house. Plan on 25-30k EUR per child per year for an international school, as well as the social connections. I know this from Düsseldorf – although we personally feel much more comfortable living simply and rurally. As long as you can be confident that the money will follow, you can calmly use some "venture capital" for the attempt at a life change. Living happily together is definitely worth it.

Are you sure that you will receive the income in Germany as well?

I think the financing will be very well possible with the key figures. Do it if you are in the fortunate position to do so! The region around FFM will certainly remain valuable.

Where do you live now? London? Compared to that, Frankfurt is surely a bargain... Olli

Thank you for the answers. Income would be in € and is already less than now in £. House prices in Frankfurt are similar (residential areas for heads of state and nobility excepted) but the cost of living is much lower (childcare, child benefits, eating out, transport). This improves quality of life, I hope.
