Return to the homeland - how much credit can I afford?

If you really don't care about status and the posh crowd, I wouldn't search in the Taunus but rather head south. For example, take a look at the area around Groß-Gerau. It's a district town and not super attractive itself. But you're at the main station within less than 20 minutes by S-Bahn or regional train, and also, for example, in Mainz, which I find a much nicer city for going out and strolling than FFM. Land and houses should still be somewhat affordable in GG, at least in relation to F and the surrounding area. However, I can't say anything about the quality of schools, as my mother only moved there after I finished school.
