that is done with 3D laser scanners, I guess they go through the house, try googling measuredsurvey365 after the dot the usual ending for the UK. Because the houses are mostly very old, and in the UK a lot of renovation and extension is done, such plans are in high demand. I have only received the plans so far, I don't know any details because it's not my house. As for the material of the houses, it is assumed according to the respective eras. So from 1920 onwards, they are mostly double brick houses.

We had the same thing recently with our renovation project. I think the civil engineer just walked through the house with a video camera. The program then calculated the plans from that in the end. It was impressive.

Silly question: Were the rooms furnished during the walkthrough or was it an empty property?

That works, there are several systems. It is also used in the surveying of crime scenes—court-admissible, so quite accurate. But I think it will be enough for you if you get yourself an inexpensive laser measuring device and scan everything.

In the case of my daughter, the rooms were unfurnished, but in my pictures you can see the toilet, shower, tub, kitchen, so what was in the house at the time. And it’s not that expensive, you don’t have to do everything.

And then the architect makes something out of it, the back side this time, once the existing, once the extension/renovation. And the whole building application is online for everyone to see, at most authorities at least 50 years back. As a neighbor, even a distant neighbor, you have the opportunity to "defend yourself."

But I must also say that in this case it was a German architect in London who submitted the application and my daughter is also meticulous and knows what one has to "deliver" to the authority so as not to have to submit new applications multiple times, which costs money and time every time. Some don’t get it and believe they can get through with minimal effort.
