A different idea:
Is it possible to use the current kitchen as an additional room/office and create a large living-dining room with kitchen? That means relocating all the connections that are in the kitchen to another room?
Presumably, though, that is a huge hassle... ;/

That was also my idea. If money is no object... I'm not a structural engineer, so just to be safe, the column next to the sofa. If there's a basement, definitely doable.

Is there a possibility to extend? Or to repurpose part of the garage?

A second child is not allowed to come, then the study room will be gone again.

That was also my first thought, to turn the kitchen into the office and combine the rest. However, the walls might be load-bearing, judging by their appearance. Possibly, you can work with openings and columns.

Does the study have to be on the ground floor, or could it also be in the basement or a garden shed?

As planned by Escroda, it is already a good approach – but I would not bend the glass front at the bottom coming from the left side of the plan inward at an angle, but continue it straight to the right, possibly (if the building envelope allows) even continue outward at a 45° angle and in both cases also make the ceiling out of glass.

So a flush or even "inverted" conservatory extension, which then creates the new dining room and could increase the living area by 7 to 12 m2 depending on the design.
