Yes, you're basically right, but I didn't want to get into the details of the backbone issue just yet. These are completely beyond the control of a home builder. And they apply to all types of supply (LTE, cable, Telekom, stone tablets, etc.)

Hello,

sorry, sorry, sorry... ops:

That was complete nonsense. In fact, Kabel BW distinguishes when laying the cable connection socket whether a contract was concluded at the same time or not.

Regards,

Dirk

Hello,

just want to give my two cents quickly...
It was written here that no one knows what the future holds, etc. but the fact is already today that the classic telephone connection only exists with absolute old contracts or companies. I currently don’t know any internet provider where you don’t make calls via SIP, that is VoIP (Voice over IP), basically internet telephony. From that perspective, you could completely cut loose, for example Internet from Kabel BW, TV e.g. Sat, and telephone from sipgate.de or easybell.de. There is potential for savings if you know exactly what you want!

BUT, I would also have a Telekom line installed for 400 EUR. You never know what will happen with the pricing policy of the current providers, so: secure alternatives!

Best regards

Hello,

the whole story with VoIP is nice and all, but it has a "disadvantage" compared to the classic phone line that should not be forgotten:

A completely normal corded phone also works during a power outage. The whole computer-based setup is useless without power in the house.

We came to appreciate this in 1999 during and after the storm "Lothar" that we still had a "normal" corded phone in the house, with which we were able to keep contact "outside" for two days...

Regards,

Dirk

In at most 2 years you won’t get any more "normal" landline connections; then all telephone calls will be handled via VoIP, the Telekom is already busy converting everything.

Yes, that's true. The problem is just that ISDN is often no longer sold, only on special customer request, and then the big question is whether it is really classic ISDN, or just a simulated ISDN from the modem or PBX. When it comes to saving, there are really many alternatives with SIP...

Best regards splitti
