Strange, I have 4 watt GU10 spotlights from Philips distributed throughout the whole apartment – at least subjectively, they are bright. They cost me about 12 euros each nearly 2 years ago and are even dimmable.

They are supposed to replace 35 or 40 watt halogen spotlights (I don’t remember exactly)...

Hi Tox,

that will be quite bright then...

I still have roughly in mind as a guideline that 1 W LED corresponds to about 10 W in an incandescent bulb - please correct me if I'm wrong...

So in our kitchen we would have 10 x 8 W LED = 80 W LED = 800 W incandescent bulb
with 15 W LED we would already reach 10 x 15 W LED = 150 W LED = 1,500 W incandescent bulb.

Personally, I already find it almost too bright in our kitchen...

Regards,

Dirk

I don't know any standard values, but when I think of the many factors...

15W LED on the packaging might actually be 12W, plus the installation height (250-260cm), the fact that LED still doesn't look like an incandescent bulb, and so on...

Supposedly my 15W LEDs are supposed to appear like 115W... if I compare that with my halogen construction lamps which are equivalent to 78W, I would say the construction lamp is about equally bright, but due to the position (210cm) in the room with 330° radiation it still feels like it provides significantly more light than such an LED spot despite the wide angle...

It's all very much about the feeling with the light.

In the future kitchen we have installed 6x 15W LED and I hope it's enough.

I can only agree. For us, 7x5 watts is enough for a daylight kitchen 8-)
