Yes, this is a building gap in the stock. The houses on the right and left (unfortunately quite ugly and 2.5 stories, a small flaw :-() are also already quite old. As already mentioned, I don't think there is anything wrong with the ground. There was once a residential house on the property that was completely demolished, and the groundwater is also very deep. But believing is not knowing, so I'd rather spend a few hundred euros on an expert report and then be on the safe side. Since we also want to build with a basement, I think that's even more important.

It's not necessarily about pollution, but about the type of soil itself. Then a contractor can tell you much better what the earthworks will cost, whether the soil needs to be replaced or somehow compacted or whatever. This is especially important for basements. We encountered clay soil, which definitely means a full basement and not a partial one, and pouring concrete instead of building with bricks, and, and, and... It's better to know beforehand!
