Hello everyone,
we are currently building our house with a general contractor (GU).
Regarding the electrical work, we have planned a bit more than what was offered in the GU’s included package.
My question today concerns the topic of television.
Last week, during the site inspection, the electrician told me that they would pull all TV cables up to the utility room, but I would have to get them myself up to the roof for the satellite dish.
I immediately told him to please do that as well, and that I would then clarify the details with his boss.
Now, a few brief details about what we have in mind. Multimedia sockets that are named "TV LAN-TAE" in the offer will be installed. In the living room, we also had another socket installed called "LAN-TAE" at the place where we planned our telephone station. The socket behind the TV was equipped with "TV-TV LAN." We have a Panasonic DMR-BST845EG, which is a Blu-ray recorder with a 1TB hard drive, twin HD DVB-S tuners, etc. It has two IN ports in the back for white antenna cables. However, in our current apartment, we have only one cable. I would like to be able to watch one program and record another simultaneously without any restrictions, hence the TV-TV socket.
Then we have 4 rooms + a bathroom upstairs. Each room has a TV-LAN socket, and in the three children's rooms, I have had an additional pure TV socket installed because in the corner where the multimedia socket is located, a desk/computer may later be placed, but a TV device wouldn’t fit there.
So, the setup is intended to allow, in the extreme case, watching 4 different programs on 4 devices upstairs and watching one program while recording another on a device downstairs in the living room. So, 6 connections in total.
In this context, I then called the electrician and informed him about this. I also told him that the TV cables should please be pulled all the way up to the roof. He said okay, they will pull the four cables upstairs.
Here is my first question: 4 cables? Is that correct, shouldn’t it be 6?
Then I asked if he could also offer me a price for installing the entire satellite system, since we would need a 6-way LNB, right?
He said no, one is enough; you only want to receive one satellite, right?
Then just a splitter would be attached afterwards.
Unfortunately, I don’t know much about electrical topics and therefore thought I would just wait for the offer.
Now he has offered me:
Mast 50/2000 delivered and installed without roof tile sealing - €115
Reflector S80 color tile red, white graphite - €153
Supply system Quadro LNC - €65
Multiswitch 4-way - €110
Master grounding - €110
Am I correct in assuming that the Reflector S80 is the dish? And isn’t the price for it rather expensive? I also find the price for the mast quite high; I am considering removing it.
But what is the Multiswitch 4-way, the Quadro LNC, and the Master grounding about?
I’m worried whether my wish to have 6 programs running in parallel will work with this or if all of this is only designed for 4 programs simultaneously?
I hope it’s understandable what I tried to convey here :)
And that someone here can help me out. I have some difficulties talking on the phone with the electrician because, on the one hand, I barely understand him and, on the other hand, he uses terms I can’t make sense of.
