Question of door selection in old building renovation

Hello,

I would omit the door between the kitchen and the hallway in variant 1 and not install a sliding door. This creates a lot of space in the kitchen and it is visually separated because the entrance to the living area does not go through the kitchen. We have something similar, it is not a problem.

Such an update after a long time:

It became variant 2 without a sliding door.
We have now lived for half a year with one passage and are very satisfied with it :-) The kitchen is visually separated and we do not have too much traffic area :-)
The open kitchen usually does not bother us. The only annoyance is that when someone is working in the kitchen, the other cannot watch TV in "peace." But that really stays within limits.

We designed the island as a pure work island. That fits.
