Question about the Ikea Metod hanging rail

I have exactly the opposite opinion. If the wall is straight, I simply hang each cabinet individually on the wall and they fit next to each other. With an uneven wall, the sides of the cabinets no longer align exactly and you can keep shimming forever until everything fits together without stress.

How large is the distance between two holes (from hole center to hole center) on these rails? I find these rails very practical at first glance, to only have to drill in the joints between tiles for a tile backsplash.

With a crooked wall, the sides of the cabinets no longer fit exactly together and you can keep shimming something forever until everything fits together without stress.

Have you ever assembled it with the rail?

It's interesting what you wrote about the mounting rail. That was exactly my line of thought, that the rail can be helpful with a crooked wall. With straight walls, I also have no problems attaching the cabinets directly to the wall.

As mentioned before, I have no experience with assembling a Metod kitchen and was a bit uncertain the last two days regarding the mounting rail. But I think I will try it with the rail. In the worst case, if I can't handle it at all, I will attach the cabinets as with Faktum.

I am really curious how the method with the mounting rail will turn out. My walls are not necessarily how one would ideally wish them to be. I would not have wanted to do my first kitchen assembly with these walls.

@ Ikeaner: Rail yes, especially those from METOD no, but I don't see any fundamental differences.

@ krspeedy: At the hardware store there are leveling wedges for window installation (which are not really wedges but spacer plates). I would get those beforehand if the wall is very uneven.
