I also think that the bank doesn't really care if you replace the GU. However, it will be interested in the new construction service description, as the value of the building can change due to different materials.
This does not necessarily have to be bad for you – if the bank concludes that the house is worth more according to the new construction service description, the conditions could theoretically even improve for you if you thereby fall below a certain loan-to-value threshold.
But it is definitely right to play with open cards.
