Although I could know this from experience with my own buildings and in my head, I am often just as much a victim of this dynamic that everything should be better, bigger, and further, otherwise you have a bad house. It is really hard to free yourself from this, but it is advisable because there is always something or someone who has more or "better." With my house back then, I could easily have spent 100,000 DM less without having a noticeable disadvantage in living. A lot of money sank into frills with windows, doors, handles, tiles, floors, etc., always following the motto "you only build once (flat out lie)" or "if we're going to do it, then we'll do it right" (as if the normal was wrong). Suddenly huge sums evaporate and in the end, there is no money left for a nice sofa, fancy garden furniture, etc.

Exactly, Bonava is the developer and more or less “handles” everything. I’m not quite sure if it’s a Friesen or Captain’s house isto_O but so far we like the look and the floor plan. We have also already considered the toilet and shower. Let’s see what’s feasible.
I will definitely ask my questions when the time comes :)

You’re speaking my mind. That kind of talk is all I hear everywhere now, since some in my family and circle of friends have bought or built as well. But reality usually looks different. I’m glad to be able to read these statements too, since they reflect my basic thoughts.

Living in a house compliant with the Energy Saving Ordinance means managing with 600,- p.a. on gas in our case. So what. What more do you want? How much more expensive will the other standard be, what does it bring p.a. Don’t let yourself be misled.

I have hoped for such honest statements to simply move away from these nitpicking discussions.

Thanks! :D

As a former window manufacturer, I can assure you that both a window as a whole and its glazing are products with multifaceted quality, many roads lead to Rome, and the various goals, only seemingly paradoxical, can sometimes even be better achieved with less complex pane packages. In the premium sector – so certainly not for budget reasons – we regularly installed two-pane (I prefer to say: single-interspace) glass units.
