You cannot waste money more senselessly than on insulation. Most of it you never save back, unfortunately. I would buy an energy saving regulation house immediately without hesitation, the KFW madness is just drilled into us. And whether windows are double or triple glazed makes virtually no difference in heating costs. There are completely different factors. I would ALWAYS prefer a good double-glazed window over a triple-glazed one.

We pay for 135sqm something like 800/year. Double glazing Energy Saving Ordinance 70 (unofficially close to 55). Lots of glass!

Was really frustrated this morning and was just skeptical about the whole project. All your assessments and experiences really encourage me and make me want to stick to it :) Thank you all!

We don’t really warm up to the whole fuss either. Most of it will never pay off during its lifetime, and there are side effects as well. For example, the ventilation system with heat recovery. Recently, we hit a new record (<20%) in terms of humidity with it. Now, expensive, electrically powered humidifiers are standing around here. Our super great heat pump costs over 400 euros a year in maintenance. That basically renders all the efficiency calculations absurd again. On top of that, the compressor already broke once. Since the warranty has now expired, the next incident of this kind would almost be equivalent to a total loss. I could list a lot more, but the really good thing is: We’re moving out soon :)

I’m saying, be careful with heat pumps. Everyone! here on the street who has one has already had mechanics working on them several times in the first three years; nothing here is older. We few with gas heating, on the other hand, have nothing except a maintenance contract; ours costs 160,- per year gross. I claim these things are still too prone to problems. Regardless of the manufacturer. I also just have controlled residential ventilation running. Control means I seal it when I want to seal it.

I always have to think of a car. Where there is a lot of technology, a lot can also go wrong. Sometimes less is more after all. I hope everything goes well for you!
