What kind of organization was that where things worked like that? I only know wholesale plumbing suppliers where – regardless of whether the builder himself could be a customer there – it is clearly identifiable which brands / models / price categories you are looking at.

Just the usual procedure of the sanitation mafia in this country. Worse than buying a kitchen.

The biggest example would probably be Peter Jensen from Hamburg - the top sanitation expert here in the city. But as I said, with model designation and price tag, there were practically no dealers here. You always got those only from your own sanitation specialist, who had received the offer from the dealer.

I know it like that too. The bathroom studios cooperate with the craftsmen who usually buy their stuff from them. The final price is understandable, between equity and customer price lies the margin for the craftsman. If you buy at [Reuters.de] you have the problem of not finding a craftsman who will install the material for you.

Helphelp, that's not the point at all. I am not denying that the craftsman wants to earn money. Of course he should. I just want a transparent offer that shows what I am paying for and the possibility to exchange items from one price segment for items from another price segment. I can't do that because I am not even told which products are being offered to me or I only have blocks that have been grouped together. That does not meet the requirements of a commercially correct offer nor the desired transparency.

Hi,
Craftsmen can pretty much get away with anything these days, but this is really extraordinary.
If he doesn’t want to separate labor and materials, you probably won’t be able to force him to do so unless there is some tax regulation that requires it. Keyword: "undeclared work".

You can turn his whining about the material list around. Inform him in writing (!!!!) that if there is no previously agreed material list, you reserve the right to refuse acceptance and payment for the materials he installed and that he is then obligated to procure and install any stuff you request.

Then the toilet including labor can be the 24 karat gold version. After all, that’s what you chose and it will surely be on his list, which he refuses to show you….

And he has to confirm this agreement in writing, otherwise he is not allowed to enter your construction site. (I hope you are the builder and didn’t buy from a developer. If the latter, you’re really out of luck).

Realistically, it will come down to you having to reassign the contract. It seems no cooperation is possible with this guy.

Best regards,

Andreas
