Good evening,

I registered here because I am having trouble with my Ikea kitchen.

Yesterday I finally wanted to hang the wall cabinets, and while marking the holes, I noticed that electrical cables run under one hanging bracket on two of the wall cabinets. I have now considered moving the bracket (this metal angle). You can see in the picture how I imagined it.

I wanted to screw the bracket from the left side under the top panel and maybe gain 4-5 cm distance from the electrical cables. But I’m not sure if and how well the new construction would hold. Has anyone here tried something like this or has another solution suggestion for me? Unfortunately, I cannot move the wall cabinets to the right or left because they would no longer align with the base cabinets. (Small, awkward kitchen with very limited options).

Kind regards, your stressed and confused

Sandra

Hi Sandra,

the brackets MUST stay on the side panels. It has to do with the weight index. If you screwed the brackets onto the lid panel, the entire weight would hang on the eccentrics that connect lid and side. They are not designed for that. What might be a possibility is a rail under the wall cabinets for them to sit on or two brackets per cabinet to take the load away.

Hello Na.,

too bad. I had also considered a bracket at one time, but then I wouldn’t be able to align the cabinets and would have to drill extremely straight, which I can rather exclude with my walls. What do you mean by the two angles?

Best regards, Sandra

Hi,

at the bottom on the outer edges, two sturdy brackets each. So screw brackets to the wall, put the cabinet on it and screw it with the brackets, but still do the attachment at the top on the lid. However, these need to be quite sturdy brackets, ideally with a crossbar so they don't possibly collapse under the weight. Visually, well...

The rail still seems like the best solution to me. You don’t have to drill perfectly straight. The holes for the screws are quite large and are then adjusted with a small metal plate, so you still have some play. Please take a look at the assembly instructions, you’ll see what I mean. Otherwise maybe a large, sturdy board or metal rails the size of the cabinets on the wall, screws through from the back, then the cabinet against it and fastened with nuts at the front. It’s best to get advice on this at the hardware store.

It all somehow works... Sometimes you just have to improvise. That’s what I like about Ikea.

Hello Nayla,

I am unfortunately a bit disappointed with IKEA, but only regarding the kitchen area.
Placing angles under the cabinets would be a severe visual setback for the kitchen. When mounting the cabinets on a rail, the problem would be that the cabinets move away from the wall overall (thickness of the rail, unattractive).
I am familiar with how to align the cabinets using the IKEA system. However, the "drilling straight" referred to the attachment of a crossbar under the cabinets, where the IKEA system does not help me much.

Best regards,
Sandra

Hi,

I was just at the hardware store and bought 2 metal profiles, which I will then attach crosswise under two wall cabinets each. I was advised to use 8mm/61mm screws along with universal anchors for this. I will try my luck with it later.
By the way, what is the load capacity of the Faktum wall cabinets? I couldn’t find anything about it at IKEA or on Google.

Best regards, Sandra
