Even if you can/could cut the wood for free yourself and then transport, split, and dry it yourself, it’s not worth it because you can offset your own working time with your net hourly wage. Instead of working on the coppice, I could just do some overtime on Saturday morning and ultimately achieve the same result.

And then all the cleaning. Lighting it. Stoking. Running around. Adding more wood. Simply terrible. And then expensive, especially for me as a Swabian.

Joking aside.

No: I really enjoy it terribly. It’s worth it to me. It’s a kind of micro-hobby! Right now it’s nice again: The storm is coming. Sweeping around the house. Audible. Noticeable. It’s raining like crazy. The wood stove is crackling away, it’s turbo cozy in here. The lights are low. Wonderful! I LOVE IT.

My annual firewood is gone. For the rest of the season, I’ll run to the hardware store. Next year I’ll buy more. Dragging action from 3.5 hours ago. Doesn’t matter.
