If you can afford it, it's okay. However, I find it quite exaggerated, even if you want to repurpose the garage as a hobby room. The companies that build that are happy...

And I wonder if the money, which you mostly get from the bank, wouldn't be better invested elsewhere for interest?

I am still cheaper than if it is done completely by a general contractor. As I said, I didn't want to overdo it. In other words, I am allowed to buy the materials myself and prepare most of it. An electrician checks and approves it. So additional costs are minimal.

Example? If I make only 2 sockets instead of 5, I don’t necessarily save copper cable, but 3 empty boxes (3x19 cents), some plaster and 3 sockets (about 15 euros).
If I later needed an extension cable or something similar, I would have to calculate what such an extension cable costs. Flush-mounted installation is probably not more expensive than surface-mounted, if I offset the surface-mounted conduit. Except if simple clamps are used.
Ventilation was just a “question”. Only one wallbox is being installed now.

I also insisted on flush-mounted installation in our garage. Although I got some strange looks and had to listen to the comment "That's not usually done," it was still implemented without extra charge. And we also have 5 sockets. And that was already the minimum. One socket under the light switch at each door, one for the garage door opener, and 2 on the worktop at the back. Occasionally, I wish we had a few more.

I can't complain... our house was very cheap. But that was a few years ago and can't be compared to the current situation. However, to claim that 5 sockets in the garage are over the top and that this would cause the costs to skyrocket, I find that a bit far-fetched :p
