Hi Phillip,

thank you very much for your reply. Of course I have also read about the disadvantages and problems with Poroton but as I already mentioned, sound insulation is very important to me, or rather more important than some problems with masonry. Until a few years ago, people only built with bricks, right? Of course the electrician will have more fun if he has Ytong instead of Poroton but my opinion is that you only build once... at least I do. I would rather have peace with the neighbors and really build soundproof. My parents also have bricks and it is really great. Many of us have now built with Ytong and the sound insulation is not comparable. Regarding the thermal conductivity value, of course aerated concrete is better here but you can’t give up on load-bearing capacity and sound insulation just because of that.

For me now the question is: which Poroton (filled or not filled) because I have heard that the T9 from Wienerberger or Unipor ws09 also fulfill the Kfw 70 standard. These two bricks are without filling.

Hello,

Sound insulation no longer plays a role with a wall thickness of 36.5 and above; the interior walls in the attic or upper floor are interesting. Neither the hollow bricks nor the aerated concrete are the be-all and end-all here; the undeservedly criticized plasterboard or also the gypsum boards are a good alternative and among other things unproblematic when mixed.

No. Mainly red bricks are used because they suggest warmth - subconscious greetings

If you stick with hollow bricks, especially unfilled ones, and if you are sensitive to noise, you will not be very happy in the attic or upper floor. You cannot achieve sound insulation with 11.5 cm walls, neither built as hollow brick nor as aerated concrete wall!

As I have written maybe 100 times, every stone has advantages and disadvantages equally; there is no one super stone.

Rhine regards

Hi construction expert,

thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I have already noticed that the perfect stone does not exist. I wanted to make the interior walls 17cm thick from hollow bricks but that is still open because there are still some questions here.

I saw at Ytong that Silka interior walls are also good for sound insulation but I don’t know if that is the right choice for me.

I really want to build with bricks or Poroton. I would also like to do without external thermal insulation composite systems, but I am still open here as well.

Regards

MeisterPhillip, are you a master mason? Or where did you gain the experience with the T7/8/9?

Hello,

I can understand from the bottom of my heart not using ETICS – but only the questions that are really on your mind in this regard cannot be answered by the forum or its users. Here you will find suggestions, support, and tips; nothing more.

Find an energy consultant you trust and discuss the individual components of your construction project with them; every construction project is individual! Then you will gradually learn how and under which conditions building with unfilled hollow bricks is economically sensible and justifiable.

Rhenish regards

Hi construction expert,

thank you very much for your answer. That’s what I will do, but every developer and energy consultant is different. I contacted Wienerberger and Unipor to ask if I could perhaps use a Poroton without filling for a KFW 70 house, and the answer was yes - T9 perforated brick or Unipor WS09. These do not require additional external thermal insulation composite systems and have no filling.

I just wanted to get some experience from people who have built with Poroton (filled).

Jayden
