So timber frame construction definitely has its advantages, but it's not for me! I don't see why I should pay a lot more money for a matchbox!

But back to the topic, since I also want to have our house tested for airtightness with a [Blowdoor test], is it feasible with Ytong or Poroton? I also rely on interior walls made of KS!

Hi,

how is the rest of the construction of your exterior wall planned?

What does your planner say?
Should it remain single-layer?
Are you getting an ETICS?
Insulation and cladding?
.......

You have to consider the exterior wall as a whole and choose the building material according to your requirements. The interior walls naturally have to be adjusted. You should not mix bricks (fired stones) and sand-lime bricks (hardened unfired stones) for the reasons already mentioned.

Basically, however, you will be able to meet static and energetic requirements with all the building materials available for selection.

So the house will get a facing brick facade! So 45 cm masonry!

What does that actually mean specifically?
Are you building it yourselves or having it built?

In case you primarily have your house built by others, it is advisable to trust the experience of the chosen company (but not blindly).

Hello Tom,

Against whom or what do you have to acoustically shield yourself in a self-occupied single-family house? The argument also doesn’t hold for noise coming from outside; with a wall construction of 36.5 and more – in combination with good windows – you can safely forget about the issue of sound insulation.

Kind regards

Hello,

I don't really understand this argument in favor of calcium silicate for the interior walls, although I deal with it almost daily. Also the question to you, against whom or what do you want to acoustically shield yourself in your own single-family house? Do you really believe that 11.5 cm calcium silicate walls in the attic will keep the children's noise out? By the way, if you already want to combine the materials, aerated concrete is the better choice because it rather forgives the material mix. The blower door test is not a problem for either Poroton or aerated concrete; it depends on the craftsmen carrying out the work.

Otherwise, it is as E.Curb described, “You have to consider the exterior wall as a whole and choose the building material according to your requirements. The interior walls naturally have to be adapted. You should not mix bricks (fired stones) and calcium silicate (hardened unfired stones) for the reasons already mentioned.

Kind regards
