With No. 4, you know the future (namely the neighboring houses), with No. 1 you don’t know when and in what form it may continue opposite (No. 83 looks like mixed forest, I suspect the rest is where the building plots are now).

One also lives without King Size Carport.

I'm not completely uninformed. The development plan for the upper area is currently in process. Only the acquisition of the plots is still taking some time. Parcel number 83 is currently meadow, a small garden shed, and scattered trees.

The city plans to continue upwards in one go. In this respect, there would only be a construction site at some point and permanently more traffic. That’s why it’s also clear that sooner or later the noise protection berm will be extended. And until then we would have a king size carport on plot 1 for shielding.

I try to convey that this is not necessary. But he has already moved away from his desire to buy over 1000 sqm in the outer area including barns.
He simply comes more from the countryside and is not used to neighbors and limited space. This is the compromise now ;)

I was at a residents' meeting four weeks ago for a link between two construction phases of a new development area. Phase I has been inhabited for twelve years, Phase II is expected to start at the earliest in five years. At the time of Phase I, it was thought that Phase II would be the same but as a second portion – that hardly applies anymore.

There is actually a factor of uncertainty: there are repeatedly efforts to anchor social housing in the [BPläne]. This was avoided in the past, but could become relevant in the future. It is generally a great thing, but not in one's own backyard ;) In that respect, you are right. That goes on the list of considerations, I hadn't really had that on my radar so far...

Were you at our residents’ meeting? ;-)
Someone actually asked the managing director of the housing company if he could guarantee that no social housing would be built there :-(
Mind you, the question came from “normal people,” not from high earners.

Well, single-family houses and semi-detached houses have a nicer structure: generally less turnover and a stronger neighborhood mentality. We are here in the village, and I have never experienced people from apartment buildings really getting involved in the neighborhood. I've also lived in one once, and none of the neighbors (including us) made much effort. It's somehow different. In that respect, I have to narrow my statement: it is actually directed against apartment buildings per se, at least the ones directly opposite.

A bit off topic on the subject of social housing: if you look at a map showing where it is, many would be surprised. It is often associated with [Plattenbau] or something like that, but very often they are [Einliegerwohnungen] or townhouses. And as long as it's not written on the outside, no one gets upset. Definitely not the one from your [Einwohnerversammlung] ;)
