You are almost never 100% satisfied

I have always taken the previous advice from the forum. Thought about it again and reconsidered our attitude. The forum has helped ensure that we don’t build a multi-family house with half the clan or that we sell the current house instead of renting it out.

You don’t have to google that in Berlin, they are in the corner pub next door.

Whatever "better location" is. We are lucky, what we consider a "better location" is cheaper than the city.

I know many who wouldn’t build that big anymore. Know your life when you build – then the size will fit. So be confident.

It’s probably a matter of attitude. I definitely don’t belong to this "one".

Usually, it’s about underestimating a lot of things. It’s not just the sofa that also stands in the apartment. One underestimates the space needed for tools, gardening utensils, and so on—the whole storage stuff. And then the circumstances of the growth of one’s household. Every year something is added. You don’t constantly throw away old things just because something new has been added as a replacement. Suddenly you have two of one kind, and then it gets tight. But you can plan for that.

I can underline what writes, because we had the same experience starting in 2001 in our new terraced house. For a while, I was convinced that we would manage to fill an entire castle with stuff within a few weeks. When we built our current house last year, we consciously decided to forgo storage space and imposed a new discipline on ourselves. This definitely works easier with older children than with younger ones. It is a matter of life preference and discipline to get by with little space without disorder arising.

Yes, for that there is your list on the topic "I'm going to an island and packing this and that and the other into my storage room ..."

Oh, you have no idea...... reading it gives me a rash and dust lung from the thought. After various profound changes in life, many people (I think I mean myself too) have experienced times when, as an adult, they could fit all their belongings into 6 moving boxes. What a happy life.... similar to the Camino de Santiago with 10kg on your back.
Often, a minimalist style is built on the outside, but inside, people collect whatever they can.
It is a special feeling of happiness for me to look into a cabinet in which half of the compartments are empty and remain so, or to not even know why one should buy another cabinet.
