we had this mess in the old hallway too. I didn’t want that anymore either. Now we have a large wardrobe where most of the jackets, shoes, and also the children’s bags and backpacks are stored. I could well imagine that for you too. On one side big closed cabinets and on the other side an open coat rack for guests and a bench. But if you let the door open inward, it gets tight when someone stands inside alone. And then with children..... Letting it open outward would be an option, but then I think of myself again, trying to open the door while fully loaded with children’s jackets, my own jacket, possibly hats and bags (kindergarten bags, handbag), craft supplies. I’m already glad if I only have to unlock the front door (which of course opens inward and I can more or less push it open with my foot) and then just let everything drop onto the bench to sort out calmly. I didn’t want to have to open another door that also opens outward :-D

I have also thought about a cabinet, but I was concerned about hanging wet items inside. I also thought about a frosted glass sliding door for the wardrobe that can be left open and closed when needed. I find such doors visually very nice. However, you wouldn't be able to use the wall next to the door for pictures, etc.

The bathroom furniture upstairs must be changed. The dressing room will be too narrow, better to have a large bedroom with a closet space. Also, the staircase doesn’t seem to work like that, it will be quite steep... And what kind of prison are those children's rooms? Why isn’t the upper floor built the same way as the ground floor? Looking at the basement walls makes you dizzy... did the mouse slip there? ;)

I mean this strange enclosed space in front of the children's rooms.

There is no room though? Or do you mean the hallway or stair landing?
