There are different levels of implementation. Which option is suitable must be decided by each individual. [Treppenhaus] can also be part of the entrance area, then the conversion is unnecessary. [Gäste-WC] could also be used as a bathroom in the event of a partner's loss of income, without losing the house, because having tenants in the upper floor brings in a bit more money.

Ideally, I would like to live on two floors for my entire life and simply have an elevator installed in old age (although the cost and the resulting dirt/dust from building 2-3 walls is not really comparable). It is all a compromise between risk minimization and precaution. Therefore, the topic can certainly be discussed endlessly. I hope that [Vronal30] has now received a few useful suggestions/hints and other or new perspectives at this point.

I think the open kitchen and especially the "kitchen island" is a really good idea! That would also be my absolute dream. It is simply nice to cook together in a large open kitchen and still be able to talk to each other. Preferably with a huge metal refrigerator, like the ones that are very popular and typical in the USA. Regarding the children's room for the second child, it is already quite small, but I also had a very small children's room and it was completely fine. Where I really have to agree is the stair lift. I wouldn't think so short-term either and would design the floor plan in such a way that you could really install one if needed.

Best regards and success with building your dream house!

I would also plan a connecting door from the hallway to the pantry so that you can carry your groceries there by the most direct route possible (without the detour through the living/dining room). How did you envision the passage from the kitchen to the pantry? On the one hand, there is a passage visible there, on the other hand the kitchen unit – so it actually can’t work like that, or did I overlook something?

We planned our kitchen very similarly to yours and are really looking forward to it. The pantry is great. Don’t let anyone talk you out of it, but I don’t particularly like the room layout. In my opinion, you’re wasting a lot of space. Consider arranging the kitchen, dining area, and living room in an L-shape (possibly with a wood stove as a room divider).....

Are there actually two children, or could the office also be upstairs.....

I really like the upper floor except for the balcony.... Do you need it? We never use ours...

Maybe this helps.....

You are absolutely right about the connecting door. But unfortunately, it’s not possible because we have now planned a built-in closet in the hallway by the [Speiß]. It’s more important to me for additional shoes, etc. :-) This is a complete kitchen unit up to the ceiling in lacquer white, and the passage looks like a closet. So you can’t recognize it as a passage door. It’s really great. When it’s finished someday, I’ll upload pictures. The kitchen block in this picture will not remain as it is either; it is about 3.80 m long.

I can well imagine the "hidden" door in the cabinet row, sounds like an intelligent solution and a stylish kitchen. By the way, we also chose high gloss white 7 years ago, never regretted it and will most likely choose it again for our new house. :-)
