A terrace roof is a huge added value for us. Made of glass, it hardly blocks any light, with an underneath awning you have great shading options, and especially in summer on the south side you can just leave the annoying blinds up. It feels much nicer from the inside.
We consciously decided against the blinds.
The main reason for the terrace roof was the possibility to sit outside comfortably with several people in summer (the terrace faces south) without having to set up 5 parasols.
In the end, we want to shade the terrace somehow and see a fixed roof as more high-quality and durable. Parasols would be totally pointless from our point of view. They just get in the way. An awning is also an option, but after 10 years it somehow doesn’t look that good anymore.
3.50m is okay, 4m more than enough. You can also put the table crosswise on it and walk around, it’s that big.
We went out again yesterday. So 3.50 meters can certainly be enough, more is definitely advantageous, but then it comes at the expense of the green area.
We have an inside awning and three vertical awnings and it’s true, when the sun shines, you don’t need the blinds anymore if the awning is extended, that’s really convenient.
I’ve also already got the vertical awnings in mind.
I would definitely not make the roof narrower than 4m, so you really have enough space and also shade at the seating area.
That’s a good point, but where then with the post at the garage?
