Plain Vanilla Floor Plan Software

Hello everyone,

I have already read similar threads on the topic, but many people here were looking for something specific (3D visualization, multiple levels object, etc.).

My wife and I now have very concrete ideas about how the floor plan of our new building should look. Since we apparently do not have the ability to precisely communicate our ideas to potential general contractors about what exactly we want, I would like to take the floor plan design into my own hands. I am going crazy with SweetHome3D because in my opinion it is not intuitive and cumbersome to use. I simply need a simple software where you can quickly draw walls, measure the remaining square meters per enclosed room (no furniture, 3D visualization or similar needed), and place windows and doors.

Can someone help me (if possible free software) or give recommendations?

Easier than SweetHome3D? Then really only paper, ruler, and pen remain.

How do you want to create an "exact" floor plan yourself? Especially if you lack software and experience, or even SweetHome3D demands too much training?? Don't take it the wrong way, but just make a hand sketch ;)

Draw it. Scan it - Tada! Digital.
The proper digital floor plan is then created by the company, and afterwards you sit down with the relevant parties and make the small changes. But for a rough floor plan the way you want to draw it, the pencil method is perfectly sufficient.
