Place the refrigerator against the wall

Hello Ikea fans,

I have a question about my planned Faktum kitchen. The kitchen is planned so far, except for the question: Can you place the refrigerator with the left side directly against a wall? The kitchen planner wants you to leave a 5cm gap for a filler piece. 5cm seems a bit much to me. How did you handle it, did you keep the 5cm, what material did you use for the filler piece, did you even use a filler piece at all? The refrigerator door would open from right to left towards the wall. Can the door be opened if the refrigerator stands directly against the wall? Many thanks in advance for your answers,

That's true, the hinges have an opening angle of 95°, and there are also handles attached on the front. You certainly want to be able to pull out the drawers and vegetable compartments as well. To be sure, distance cabinet ./. wall = handle depth + 2 cm, then everything fits well.

ok, thanks.... sounds logical with the drawers etc. what do you use as a filler piece? should the filler piece go from the floor all the way up to the top of the cabinet? probably looks nicer visually, right?

As a filler piece, you can either use a baseboard (take it vertically) or cut a corresponding piece from a cover panel.

Since the baseboards are slightly recessed, I would extend the baseboard to the wall and then attach the filler piece at "front height".
