Hi everyone,

I looked for something but didn’t find anything, or rather nothing that completely satisfied me.

While I originally wanted to implement the photovoltaic system + storage for our new build in 4-5 years, I have now changed my mind. With electricity costs currently at €110 and probably €130-140 in the new build, I can just repay a loan of €150-170 per month and implement the photovoltaic system immediately.

I gave the planning office the homework to get us an offer, I have already searched myself and received one today.

29x JA Solar JAM60S10-340/MR

alternatively

30x Solarwatt Eco 120M Photovoltaic Module 330 heat pump

and Senec . IES Home V3 duo Lithium 5kWh storage capacity.

So far so good, but then there is an item with the conclusion of a cloud contract, and in the profitability calculation there are also costs for the cloud as well as savings from the cloud. But I did not quite understand what the cloud gives me for my money or what it means.

Now, apparently, there is not only SENEC with a cloud but others as well, and I do not quite understand what exactly I get from it. Don’t I feed in directly anymore, no feed-in tariff with the surplus energy?

Do I need the cloud, or don’t I? If yes to cloud, which provider?

provided you can commission the system before the politics get moving and the limit hasn't been reached yet, why even have a storage? Cloud or no cloud...

The only one who benefits from cloud solutions and storage in photovoltaics is the provider of the same.

Let yourself calculate how many kWh you can use from the storage per year.

In the next step, multiply this number by 15 years. Then divide the cost of the storage by the number of kWh over 15 years and you will realize that the kWh from the storage is between 30-50ct and thus above your purchase price. Without proper subsidies, storage is a hobby. Any maintenance costs, performance losses, etc. are not yet taken into account here.

Do not sign anything you do not understand 100%. Familiarize yourself with the statutory [52GW] cap. There will be a cabinet meeting about this tomorrow. You don’t want to invest and then no longer receive compensation because the commissioning is too far away.

As far as I understand, the Cloud is nothing more than an electricity tariff from the big providers. Research who the Cloud provider is. In my opinion, a good means of customer retention. What happens if the costs in the Cloud tariff are arbitrarily raised? Can you cancel? Can you switch? What happens to the storage?

I would make the most of the roof’s potential and initially build without storage. If prices and/or subsidies become available, you can always retrofit a storage system. Are you planning an electric car? Then follow the topic of V2G / bidirectional charging.

Good luck!

Discard the topic of storage. Currently, I would look at the cost of the modules and, even more importantly, that they are also in stock. There are many posts here where commissioning has been postponed indefinitely because the modules are currently stuck in Asia or not being produced.

In January, I got 28x335w on the roof, costs were €1,100 net all inclusive.

Cloud is nonsense. For me, it was ruled out immediately after a short research. Best to commit for 10 years and rent the photovoltaic system. No way...

We only have a storage system because we built KFW40+. That was well worth it. I wouldn't do it without the subsidy.
