We drive exactly that setup as well. The one who drives the longest distance on a given day takes the electric car (usually me). Everything over 120km or where storage space is needed is done with the gasoline car anyway.

For towing, the Outlander as a hybrid would be a solution. Purely electric doesn’t make sense if you possibly only have one vehicle.

We are currently also working on the Outlander PHEV. We are currently driving the petrol version, we like the format. A pretty practical car. A bit soft in the steering and more robust - but it has proven itself. What I find interesting about the PHEV is that around 45 km can be driven purely electrically. That is enough for many things in the area, and for longer distances you then have a petrol engine on board.

That may be, but it doesn't help me if, for cost and environmental reasons, I don't see the point in getting a second car without a corresponding necessity. I just fear that I will have to wait until electric cars have become widespread and are then also equipped with trailer hitches. Since I commute to work by train + bicycle and could probably charge the car about 80-90% with my own photovoltaic power, it would be very practical for us.

... trailer hitch for the bicycles. What you want won't come in the next 20 years. So it has nothing to do with the mainstream. Driving fast is already a problem when it comes to range, and by fast I mean anything over 120 km/h. Tesla is no different in that regard.

We have also considered that, but then we would have to manage with 1,500 kg, only one horse at a time... In any case, I am not willing to spend the money for a Tesla X...

Well, since I have to tow a 750 kg trailer a few times a year because of my own garden and also my side business, it won't work without it. Overall, we only drive about 12,000 km per year and I don't need to go faster than 120 km/h. So actually, the Ioniq would be perfect if the trailer hitch had a towing capacity and wasn't just for bicycles.

Whatever....

So, I just read my meters. On 20.03.2020 the meters were installed. Since then I have the following readings: Grid consumption: 303 kWh Generated: 5013 kWh Fed in: 4408 kWh

This means that we consumed 605 kWh of the generated electricity ourselves and used a total of 908 kWh since 20.3.2020. This results in a self-sufficiency rate of 67%. And that without a battery. I think that's pretty decent. By the way, there are 4 adults and 4 children between 3 and 10 years old. And yes, we do try to use electricity during sunshine, but we're not going to go crazy about it.
