Photovoltaic Battery Storage - Market Check Fire Hazard

I would now like to order the BYD Premium HVS 7.7 battery. But I fear it is not compatible with my inverter from SMA (STP10.0-3AV-40). I cannot reach anyone at SMA and my installer is currently unavailable. Why does there have to be compatibility again? Only the SBS from SMA and the STP SE are listed in BYD's list. Can I not use the battery after all?

I asked my solar installer. Your SMA inverter is the blue box, right? So the "non-SE" version? If yes, then it is not compatible. You need the "white box," the "Smart Energy" version for the BYD HVS and HVM. I have the STP 10.0 myself and a BYD HVM and was a bit nervous, but I was offered the "SE" version.

How long have you had the inverter? Why are you now considering wanting a battery?

Having to buy another inverter again would be crazy.

Why? Until recently, that was the standard with SMA.

An LFP battery always has DC. If you want to connect it to the house (AC), you always need an inverter in some form. So you can either buy a second one or replace your existing one with a hybrid.

We once had the Varta Element S6 in the house, which apparently would also have worked with the inverter. However, we were still able to get rid of them because we had concerns about the cell chemistry.

You are (mostly). You just need an inverter or a system with an integrated inverter.

Yes. How sensible that is remains questionable. ;-)

Just buy any storage with an inverter. That is still the most common storage at the moment. Here you have a choice from the mentioned Varta storage, Sonnen storage, E3DC ...

Or change the inverter and buy BYD storage.
