We want to pave our driveway. That's easily over 100m². We've got quotes around €6500. Now I'm really getting stingy and wondering if you can do it yourself? It's not rocket science, is it? Has anyone here paved themselves? Can a layman handle 100m² on their own?

depends on the circumstances. If you need heavy equipment, it becomes criminal

Remove the gravel, excavate, put in sand, compact, lay the parts, fill sand on top, sweep into the joints. Theoretically simple, practically tedious, and it should also be even. Maybe together with someone who has done this many times? For a small donation for his needy children?

Depends on the pavement. Granite cobblestones in circular arcs are more difficult than medium-sized concrete paving stones.

So far, we have also paved everything ourselves at our house, it’s not an art, there are plenty of instructions on the internet. Certainly, you need some manual skills and the appropriate tools, etc., but then it works. It will certainly not be as perfect and won’t go as fast as with a professional, but then it’s homemade. The best way, as Nordlys already wrote, is to lay down gravel and then sand/gravel/split on top and arrange the stones as you like. When leveling the sand/gravel/split, you should work neatly so that you don't have height differences/waves afterwards. This spring, we also have the driveway with about 100m² to do.
