Hello forum,

I understand that the microwave integrated into the oven is functionally adequate and that, for example, the combined use of oven + microwave brings time advantages, but I would be interested to know whether this integrated version can really compete with a separate microwave in daily life (disregarding space advantages; we would have enough space)? I don’t mean big cooking, but rather, for example, quickly warming up a cup of milk or quickly reheating lunch in the evening. Do the trays have to be removed beforehand, or does it work like a separate microwave (open, put in, turn on, done)? Can you even find the small cup of milk anymore in the relatively large oven after warming it? Etc. etc.

I would be interested to know what experiences you have had in daily life and whether you would choose a combo device again.

Best regards

With our Siemens one, only the wire rack is allowed inside. However, I keep the trays elsewhere permanently, as the rack is used more often by us.

I have had such a device, now in its second generation, for over 25 years. In the standard version, I basically always have the rack in the oven, and it is also suitable for the microwave in my Siemens combination appliance. So, door open, heat-resistant item inside, turn it on, done.

That works perfectly and you definitely don’t need a separate microwave anymore. We also use the device to heat many small things: baby food, milk bottle, etc. I have also left the tray in several times. Nothing happened

Thank you for your quick responses. We have now also been confirmed by your opinions and have acquired the following device:

We really made a bargain here (really!)

What I will now pass on to the carpenter is that we want a drawer for the trays under the oven, as they probably won't be in the oven most of the week due to microwave use.

Thanks again for your experiences!

Best regards

Rather consider whether you don't want a compartment above the oven at the top of the tall cabinet with a vertical partition, at least about 20 cm or so .. then you can store the baking trays vertically and always pull out exactly what you need. Next to it, you can place storage boxes for less frequently used small items or larger rarely used things (casserole dishes, [Tortenbutler] etc.). Below the oven, rather drawers for more frequently used items.
