Hello, since I have been reading through the forum here for several months now and our floor plan is now finalized, I wanted to ask for your opinion on it. We are open to suggestions for improvements. Some doors will still be slightly moved to be able to place cabinets better. Likewise, the door from the garage will be moved up into the mudroom. The glass element from the master bedroom above the stairs will also be removed, otherwise you can’t sleep there when the light in the hallway keeps turning on. The fireplace will also be moved around the corner; it is only for a wood stove for cooking. Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hello Landler,
I really really like your floor plan. If there is space available, it’s also fun to plan generously. Of course, if it’s financially feasible. :-)

What I notice is that a simple standard shower is planned in the master bathroom. Personally, I shower 99% of the year, so I planned a nice large shower for myself.

I have another suggestion for the guest WC on the ground floor. Have you ever thought about a standing urinal (is that how you spell it?) for the male guests?

How many square meters will you have in total?

Regards, Earl

Hello Earl Grey,

Financially everything fits, we already have 3-4 quotes for all trades, we have come to 300,000 € if you take the average everywhere. Now many will probably say that it is not feasible for that money, but we do a lot ourselves. Earthworks and walls completely done in-house, for example.

Our plot is 3000 sqm, the ground floor has 107 sqm + 63 sqm garage and workshop, and the upper floor has 145 sqm.

We also considered the pissoir in the guest WC, but we discarded it again.

The shower in the master bathroom will be bigger, the architect just drew it like that but it is supposed to be a steam shower for two people.

Wow, great property. Congratulations... in which federal state are you building?

If you hadn't mentioned the lot of personal effort, I would have seriously doubted the price. Although I don't have much expertise myself, from what I've read so far in this forum, something wouldn't have fit.

I wish you a lot of fun with the construction and your personal effort, it can really be nice (if you really enjoy it and can do various things yourself).

Regards Earl
