Hey everyone...

So a new roommate, either male or female, is moving in with us in mid-April. It wasn't planned, but we're still super excited! Currently, Child 1 occupies our bedroom, which, due to the south-facing location, is by far the warmest room in the house. Sleeping is currently in the ironing and guest room, and Child 2 has the office. Downward on the plan is north.

I'm now thinking of turning the Child 1 office into a laundry and guest room, the sleeping room into the bedroom, and Child 2’s room into the children's room. The little one will probably play upstairs only rarely at first... ;)

How would you do it? Ideas? Suggestions? Inspiration?

So first of all: congratulations.

I would implement it just as you imagine. Possibly you also have some time, since in the first few months the baby crib is usually placed in the bedroom. However, your wife will probably soon follow the "nesting instinct" (like almost every expectant mother) and order you (with expectant mothers this is usually not a request but an ultimate command ;)) to have the nursery fully furnished on time.

If nursery 1 faces southeast, then the bedroom is southwest and nursery 2 northwest. In my opinion, this should make the bedroom the warmest room (due to sunlight during the hot season) and nursery 2 the coolest room. This is also the reason why I would prefer your layout.

Then I would make the northwest room the master bedroom and use the other two as children's rooms (it doesn't matter which if there is only one child). Attention should be paid to the possibilities of furnishing and consideration of existing furniture (wardrobe, parents' bed). The use shown in the floor plan practically suggests itself here (wardrobe row in the bedroom).

April is still a long way off, so there is no need to rush anything.

You now have at least 1.5 years left to think about something, if your wife also wants to make you believe otherwise.

So you still have all the time in the world.

1.5 years? I think something doesn't add up mathematically or biologically ... :D

First of all, congratulations from me as well. Your plans also seem fine to me. But it also depends on your habits. However, you can judge those better :) At 1.5 years, added up the pregnancy and the time in the bedside crib.
