Thank you for the congratulations.

7 months until birth and 1 year in the bedroom....
about 1.5 years until moving into our own place... :)

OT: I’ve heard of much longer periods. One year is really quite reasonable. But that probably also depends on whether and how long the children are breastfed. Our little one also moved into his new domain with his little bed at about 1 year old after moving into the new house. That probably could have happened a few months earlier, but rearranging the old apartment in parallel with building the house just for a few weeks would have been a bit pointless.

Hi,

first of all, congratulations! Sleep in advance once more! :) I would use Child 1 as the bedroom, then both kids (if there ever is a second one) have rooms that are more or less equally sized. My big brother always had the significantly bigger room, which annoyed me my entire childhood!

Also off-topic: Yup, our neighbor still breastfeeds her 2.5-year-old son and slept in his room until he was 6 with her first child....

But to each their own. Our little one was forcibly moved into her room after 6 weeks because my wife and I were both so incredibly sick with colds that we sniffled and coughed all night and kept waking her up constantly. She then slept very comfortably in her own little bed and has stayed there since. Everything works!

The main thing: stay relaxed, no matter what happens!

The little ones are much tougher and endure a lot more than you might think...! ;)

Best regards,

Andreas

That tip is really good .

Extreme example - my very subjective opinion: helicopter mom to the third power.

OT:
That the child sleeps in a co-sleeper bed next to the parents during the early stages is not unusual. This results partly from breastfeeding or possibly bottle feeding. On the other hand, also from the fear of sudden infant death syndrome. Of course, there are also some technical gadgets that are supposed to warn against this - only the trust is missing. Interestingly, many mothers develop an "inner watchdog," which results in light sleep, so they notice "unusual" things relatively quickly. My wife also jumped up once - the child had wrapped its comforter so tightly around its neck that it could barely breathe. I only found out about it after it was already over.
On the other hand, I once jumped out of bed - as if bitten by a tarantula - because in a half-sleep I imagined that the little one was no longer breathing. Well - he was breathing. I was clearly faster afterwards o_O;).
