Congratulations. :-)

I wouldn’t see the whole own room thing too critically now. Experts say children should move into their own room at their own wish between their first and fourth birthday.

Our daughter is 1 1/2 and of course still sleeps with us (and mostly in our bed). I really couldn’t imagine sending her to her own room alone for the night already. She also wakes up sometimes at night and it’s definitely more comfortable for her that someone is there, instead of her having to walk down the hallway to another room or we would have to go into another room at night!? That wakes you up anyway.

So first of all, congratulations! Then about the bedroom, we have our bed in the southwest room on the upper floor, above it the only partially insulated cold roof (or currently a hot roof, if you open the hatch to the floor, it fries your head). Still, the room is only 22°C no matter if it's 39° outside and the sun has been shining through the floor-to-ceiling windows without shutters all day. An air conditioner is really worth it. It even runs for free thanks to surplus electricity from the photovoltaic system, which anyway wouldn't be allowed to be fed in.
