Thank you! Did you extend the fireplace up to the ceiling or is there still space above it?

Yes, when the fireplace is fired up, you probably don't sit on the bench, but you often see it like that.

Just because everyone does it that way... no no, I always prefer to be able to sit.
We don't have it floor-to-ceiling. Just take a look around and see what you like.

But you can't determine the correct sizing from anything here: the living room would currently be the only basis for assessment, but if I remember correctly, the OP also wants a conservatory in the future – however, without any decision yet as to if, when or where :-(

If done correctly, you can also sit there when the fireplace is burning.

Let's leave the conservatory out for now... the living room must now first serve as the basis for evaluation... by the way, it is 44 m² in size :-)

You mean on those classic benches directly by the glass? How do you do that "right"? Although it still doesn't make sense to me, it's simply too dangerous to get close to the hot glass.

Edit: with the installation situation from the OP, a custom-made bench is needed because of the corner in the wall?
