The chimney builders we have been to so far said that we need an RLU chimney (probably also because of our LAS chimney)..

I’m not an expert, but I can’t imagine that, since the LAS is supposed to ensure that no window in the room needs to be opened. Regardless of the heating insert and air pressure problems.

Are you planning a residential ventilation system? If not, according to our chimney sweep, neither a certified heating insert nor a pressure monitor is needed (provided the kitchen is open and the extractor hood vents outside without a contact switch).

Please contact your local chimney sweep and ask him about the connection between LAS and a certified heating insert. He carries out the acceptance of the heating system, so his statement is decisive for you.

A certified heating insert does limit you a lot, as you have already noticed.

The chimney builders must have already given measurements on how much the chimneys would protrude into the room?

Counterquestion: What's the use of the fireplace if I have to completely undress by the third log?

Everyone has to answer both questions for themselves and then hopefully choose the right product.

I also like stoves, know the problems, and must say that for a 40sqm room the output really should be considered. In other words: the room is too small for a stove if it is an [Energieeinsparverordnung]-house (and the latter is the case) But then I would make a narrow room divider out of it, so at least when idle it has a use.

A properly sized chimney works great even in a low-energy house. However, we also have a small glass pane and a lot of fireclay all around for the mass. It should be clear that a chimney never pays off, even if you get the wood for free.

Yes, we will probably also have a residential ventilation system (offer still pending).

The chimney sweep said I should pick out a fireplace and then show it to him... I can just take an RLU and an RLA, let's see what he says.

Yes, the fireplace will protrude about 80 cm into the room for double-sided, significantly less for single-sided (40 cm).
