Old electrical cables on the property

I started construction this week, during the excavation it was noticed that there are old RWE power lines in the ground which are, however, decommissioned, now they are simply being built over, my architect also said that doesn't matter, I am a bit skeptical, should I have them removed or does it really not matter?

Have RWE confirm in writing that the cable is "dead" and no longer needed. Otherwise, you could end up being the fool if they realize later that they still need the underground cable!

Alternatively, your architect can confirm that he will cover any costs if you follow his advice; of course, this also applies to his successor.
