If you argue like that, then indeed nothing helps against professional thieves. Cameras cost around €600 - €700 and record movements. They notify me immediately via cellphone. Since I work 5 minutes away from the house, I can get there quickly or simultaneously inform the police.

Besides, the house is guarded by a bloodhound. So no chance :-)

Well, actually yes. The professional notices "Nonsense, RC2. Takes too long." That is your only chance. Just as I am stunned at how quickly an electrician connects a socket, you will be amazed at how quickly a professional grabs a few valuables and is gone again. There was also a break-in at Dieter Bohlen's place ;)

The surcharge from RC1 to RC2N is (with us) quite small. We will definitely do that. Whether to opt for the burglary-resistant glazing (RC2) is something to consider. We decided against it.

If you live in a residential area in the middle of it, that’s fine. No one breaks a window there. If you live exposed, for example with the garden and terrace facing open fields on the outskirts, I would take RC2... well, I would always take it and not save there. I’m often away on business trips for weeks and my wife is home alone with the kids. Four years ago there was also a series of break-ins here...

Windows last 20, 30, 40 years. Better to do it right now and save on things that may come later.

Had a look. My guest WC window has 8 mushroom caps, the large floor-to-ceiling ones 13.

I looked at my window offer to see what I actually have. I have RC2 everywhere, including with protective glass. And I don’t remember my father-in-law saying that you could save a lot of money by leaving that out. I remember he said that the sound insulation would also be better, which is why it would be a sensible thing overall. So we also have it on the upper floor. Then I noticed that the U-value is worse than specified in the planning. Now I don’t even know if I still comply with the energy saving ordinance, since I have quite a few windows... Is someone going to check that again?
