Exactly, and in the new building, the switch IMHO no longer belongs outside. It is a relic from earlier times and may (perhaps) still be justified if the door also opens outward. You all have the other light switches inside the room, don’t you?

Of course inside, if one even still needs a light switch in a modern house/new building.

true... in every other room it is inside, except in the guest WC and bathroom...

Hm, it’s probably a matter of habit, since we have never really (negatively) noticed it in the current house :)

Same for us. It couldn't be done differently because we have tiled claddings right away... I didn't pay attention to that when planning. Now outside with a light, so you can see when someone is inside.
But it doesn't bother me, I have no disadvantage :) I also don't believe that the house's value decreases because of it.

Switches in our house are generally inside the room - I find that quite logical. Allowed is what you like. You can also have 2 switches installed, one outside with "presence light" and one inside. Or you simply install a motion sensor (which then is surely inside). Or a combination of everything and with an app...

In the bathroom, we changed it during the construction meeting so that the switch is inside.

All other switches are already planned inside the room :)
