Good morning,

On the internet, I found the following information about the new property tax 2022:

Apparently, the State Tax Office in Bavaria requests that one submit a tax declaration. The period is supposed to be from July to October 2022.

Does anyone perhaps know more details about this? Does it make sense to join some kind of tax assistance association beforehand that helps with this, or can one do/fill it out themselves?

You just have to provide data such as year of construction, standard land value, and similar. A letter listing everything will follow. And then submit it via Ester.

No more than what associations state and what can be found online. The declaration initially has nothing to do with taxes.
As wrote, it’s about the data of the house.
- Location of the house with plot size and standard land value
- Type of use
- Year of construction, year of renovation, year of extension
- Areas
Depending on the federal state, there may also be other information.

There is a calculator to find out how much one has to pay now (but I am not allowed to post the link here....). For us, the property tax will rise from about €250 to €550. However, this is mainly due to the BRW climbing from €100 to €250 per sqm.

But it doesn't help much for the reform, since the real estate transfer tax in Germany can (and partly does) vary from federal state to federal state. As far as I know, there will be six or seven different variants depending on the federal state. So once again a nice patchwork...
