Last year we had a garage built by a company. The garage is fully embedded in the earth at the back (on a slope). The rear wall and the back part of the walls are made of concrete, the floor is paved. This summer, the rear floor and the wall were damp from the floor up to about 1 meter. Part of the moisture was caused by condensation in the summer. After the temperatures dropped, the moisture decreased. How must the construction company rectify this defect? I ask for suggestions.

here it is quite possible that no sealing was done in the rear area where the wall is in the ground. Normally, a thick coating should be applied to the wall and provided with [Bautenschutz], possibly the concrete is not waterproof concrete, so it absorbs moisture. It is therefore difficult to say anything from a distance

I think only an expert can help here. The construction company has been sloppy and forgotten some things. As Paules already writes, the waterproofing is simply missing here.

when I read that there are always sloppy jobs at the companies, it makes you hardly want to build your own house anymore. At the moment I still rent, but it was already planned at some point to have something of my own. I do look for good companies on the internet, but sometimes it’s not easy

Hi Angelia,

Yes, that's true and the construction flaws are increasing more and more. It is important to always have an expert on hand. Checking the construction companies is also important.
Best regards

Well Nicole, it might also depend on what the workers are paid, I have an acquaintance who works in construction in Germany, man, man, for the heavy physical work sometimes a starvation wage, although the hourly rates charged by the construction company itself are quite high :( In Switzerland it's a bit better, that's why so many come here to work, which I can certainly understand
