New construction + exhaust heat pump according to the builder, is a trench collector affordable?

Facing the same question, I tend clearly towards gas because in my opinion this is all nicely calculated and in most cases you might regain the additional cost possibly in 30 years.

No one can tell you today where gas or electricity prices will be in 30 years anyway. It is basically a question of personal preferences and a "green thumb".

Due to the innovation funding, gas is out. The construction company can implement an air/water pump with indoor installation (but operates with outdoor air) or outdoor installation, or a surface collector with a brine pump. What are exactly the advantages and disadvantages? Which is more efficient? Is there a risk of ground freezing with brine?

Hi,

this here:

would be the reason for me to immediately stop any consideration regarding a heat pump. According to his own statement, the general contractor has no experience (commendable that he admits it at least!!), so you have the very best chances of ending up later with a heating system that either makes noise, doesn’t warm the house, or has insane electricity costs. Or all of it together!

So you would be playing the role of a guinea pig and still have to pay for it???

Best regards,

Andreas

The note applied to air/water pumps. Flat plate collectors have already been installed several times.

The disadvantage of an air heat pump is in most cases the noise pollution in the outdoor area. Even if you install the outdoor unit so that it does not bother you, it can still be the case that your neighbors are no longer your biggest fans. Regarding the ground collector, I see no significant disadvantages apart from the space requirement. However, this can become quite large depending on the soil conditions. Depending on the soil type, the possible extraction capacity is estimated at 10-30 W/m² (10 for sandy soil, 30 for loam/clay). With the trench collector, you basically get the same with less effort, but many companies do not dare to take it on because the design guidelines are less clear and no one wants to give a warranty for something they are not familiar with. I personally initially favored the air heat pump due to its easy implementation when choosing a heating system, but I have now ended up with a brine heat pump with a trench collector. In the end, thanks to the higher BAFA subsidy, it is not really more expensive.

If only the cheapest offer is awarded the contract: yes. Otherwise, I would really be glad if these "condition descriptions" of a split system were finally banished to where they belong: the realm of myths Rheinische greetings
