I am asking again more precisely on what basis the heating system is planned. I assumed that it was also planned based on the energy certificate; if this is not permitted, I think other bases were used.

By the way, I have found out that the energy certificate is normally not included in the architect's fee but is remunerated separately as a consulting service. Therefore, it would be great if someone has a rough idea of what something like this could cost.

Hi,

I believe what you mean is the Wärmeschutznachweis, which of course is part of the building permit. However, this is usually by no means issued by the architect. It is a so-called technical construction certificate. This is usually done together with the structural safety certificate by the structural engineer.

Therefore, it is not part of the architect's services

Correct, our structural engineer probably prepared this. The cost for the whole thing is supposed to be around €2,000, which seems way too high to me. Acquaintances who have also built, even somewhat larger, had costs of about €600 in this regard... On Friday, we will sit down together about this, and then I will have them explain what is included in the €2,000! If this amount is only for the thermal protection certificate, I will definitely not pay this amount.

This should be the complete package (structural engineering, fire and sound protection, energy saving ordinance certificate) from the structural engineer. For the energy saving ordinance certificate, around €350 may be charged for a standard single-family house, depending on the geometry. Unfortunately, structural engineers are rarely also energy consultants or HVAC planners.

Kind regards.

Structural engineering is definitely not included; that is extra. Fire and sound protection alone should not cost €1,500 if I even assume €500 for the energy saving regulation verification...

I can already see that there is a massive need for clarification here. Upon inquiry, the heating system was apparently selected by our heating installer based on our energy saving regulation verification after all. I have also done some further research and I think I will spend some more money and have a separate heat load calculation done... So far, the heating system was chosen with a heating capacity of 10 kW. The building size is 240 m², of which 30 m² are basement rooms.

Overall, the costs do not look very promising
The certificate is always the rough roadmap, nothing more. Whether the most sensible solution was actually chosen by a structural engineer cannot be judged from a distance. For this, from the point of view of the fundamental determination, an assessment of the actual demand depending on the chosen building substance, the climate location, and the user behavior would be necessary. From this actual demand, one can logically derive, in connection with the respective technical solution for heating, hot water preparation, LtM, the consumption actually to be expected. This consideration alone leads to a reliable assessment of the necessary investments in each case.
The heating engineer can at best use the component geometry and U-values of the components from the certificate, if controlled residential ventilation with/without heat recovery, the determined air volumes according to the air volume plan according to DIN 1946-6 and the concept specified by the certificate (heat generator etc.) for his calculations!
The heating load calculation according to DIN 12831 alone is not sufficient, especially if condensing boilers, heat pumps, or pellet stoves were considered as heat generators.
Modern heating systems can be very efficient, but only if a complete and comprehensive sizing/calculation of all components is available. This includes, among other things, the heating surfaces and, for example, the system hydraulics.
However, this is not necessary for an open campfire!

It is now known that building owners are being taken advantage of in general contractor projects regarding the system technology. This should not be suspected in the more expensive independent architectural planning. Apparently, here the "quick money" is being made at the expense of the building owner.
