Yes, trained as a painter but never finished. Unfortunately, I am disabled now and can’t do much myself anymore. Sure, painting a wall again or laying a floor with a lot of time, but then that's also the limit of what I can handle. That’s one of the reasons why I’m now driving a taxi in my father’s business. I wanted to take over the shop anyway at some point, and the good man is now 66 and has earned his retirement (and his semi-detached house, and no, there’s probably nothing to inherit there) :p But it’s not so easy in the industry anymore. More begging on wheels, as you can see from my salary. My partner could probably find something else, but whether that would be paid significantly better is another story. Sure, an extra 100-200 € is always possible, but you can’t exactly work magic with that. Personally, I wouldn’t trust myself with such a construction apartment anymore. But sure, whoever’s up for it, go ahead =) Bad luck living so close to Hamburg. Of course, you have more luck if you grow into the village or countryside. Then you usually already have an overview of properties, are more likely to inherit something or get a gift from Grandpa Brass at a nice barbecue evening. Having land is already a big win. Hamburg and the surrounding area are currently experiencing a real construction boom. Everyone is moving out here to the surroundings, everyone is building like the Heinzelmännchen. You’re a bit late yourself. But starting to plan the end at 35 is clear too =)

Considering you don't know much, you judge a lot about qualities and apartment conditions. In Hamburg, houses have stood for over 200 years… every 30 years or when the owner changes, renovations are done. Apparently not you, if you read this here: I have to be honest that you actually disparage quite a lot instead of asking necessary questions. Before I call an apartment a wreck, I ask whether the price for a worn-out apartment is normal or what condition I can expect.

Oh dear, so you have neither savings nor can you make any significant personal contribution. The reason doesn't matter at first when you look at it objectively. The situation doesn't get any better if you speak disparagingly about older houses. It's all not that simple.

I'll say it straight: rent a nice apartment or a house, nothing more is possible.

I can't contribute much more than what has already been written, but renting shouldn't be demonized. It also has many advantages, and if you won't have children to leave the property to anyway, renting isn't wrong at all. You don't have to rent from the finance shark right away.

No chance in Hamburg to get a house with that income. You are competing with solvent buyers. First, go to mb at the bank and define the scope.

So I see your maximum credit limit at 250k-300k, but the bank will be able to tell you more about that. (If there is even a loan at all...) You can probably afford an older 2-room apartment in the Hamburg area with that. I absolutely don't see anything else for you.

And why is there nothing to inherit if your father has a semi-detached house in Hamburg? Semi-detached houses are sold for 1 million here...
