Narrow the width of the Pax wardrobe from IKEA

Hello dear forum,

I have moved into a shared apartment and was horrified to find while setting up my Pax wardrobe (1 corpus 1.00m 1 corpus 0.50m) that it doesn’t fit exactly into the gap in my room. It is about 1.5 cm too wide. Has anyone of you ever narrowed such a wardrobe or is there a center panel with which I could connect the two corpus parts (that way I would save 1.5-2 cm)?

It would be great if someone could help me.

First, please measure the gap where the wardrobe is supposed to go exactly (not that the walls are crooked, already experienced that... )
And then the exact width of the individual carcass parts, as well as the width of the side walls.
How deep is the "gap"?
Is it a niche in the wall, or just a "free" space between other furniture?

If the wardrobe would fit into the gap once one side wall is removed (but you also need a bit of room to slide it in, don’t forget), I would do the following:
You don’t build the two carcass parts separately, but together by leaving out one of the two middle walls.
For this, you simply need to drill all necessary holes completely through the remaining middle wall so that they can be used from both sides.

You only need to consider one thing:
If your wardrobe has hinged doors, you have to reduce both in width (i.e. saw them) so that they can close.
If your wardrobe has sliding doors, you will probably have to modify the running rails so that they can be attached to the modified carcass.

If removing one middle wall is not enough, I might have another idea.
If it is a niche in the wall, then just convert the whole niche into a wardrobe.
Shelf support rails on the wall, place shelves, and that’s it.
If you have sliding doors, you might even be able to reuse them with some skill...
